People who eat fruits as a part of his or her overall healthy diet are more likely to have a reduced risk of diseases such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, kidney stones, colon cancer and could even prevent bone loss.

Some fruits are considered as vegetables but they are in fact, botanically are fruits. Some vegetables are squash, pumpkins, cucumbers, peas, tomatoes, beans, eggplants, corn and chillies that are treated as vegetables but in fact they are actually fruits. Tomatoes are botanical fruits but are not considered as a vegetable and therefore it is called a culinary fruit.

There are no fruits that contains cholesterol which we know can cause heart diseases and many more. When you eat fruits, you pack your body with more potassium, Vitamin C, fiber and folate. What's even great about fruits is that they taste really good and eating them is not at all sacrificial even to kids! When you want more fiber, it is best that you digest whole or cut-up fruits as they are good sources of dietary fiber. You could have fiber from oats and other wheat products as well. Fiber is important part of your diet as it cleans your body plus it helps you lose weight too and keeps your heart healthy as it removes the grease from your stomach. With fruits, you would get Potassium, Vitamin C and Folate and many other nutrients that keep your body healthy. Potassium helps in maintaining your blood pressure to a healthy level, Vitamin C keeps your teeth and gums healthy, helps repair your body tissues, heals cuts and wounds and it's important for the growth of kids. Folate helps with the formation of red blood cells in the body.

Fruits are best eaten raw as it contains all the nutrients and are not diminished during cooking. When you want to have a healthy diet, you need to eat fruits on a regular basis. Fruits can be turned into fruit juices and you could enjoy a refreshing, thirst quenching yet healthy drink. Fruit juices usually contain little or no fiber at all as this is usually removed so it's really a good idea to just make your own fruit drinks instead of mixing fruit powders that have already been processed. Fruit shakes became a hit because it doesn't only taste great and cools you but it keeps you healthy as well. Processed fruit juices tastes far less than freshly cut-up fruits which is why freshly made fruit juices became such a hit and is a good business nowadays.

Fruits differ in nutrient content so you need to check the nutritional value for each fruit and having a variation of fruits is important as well. It is best to keep fruits with more potassium often. Keep those bananas and melons as they are great sources of potassium. If you want to make a delicious fruit shake that is jam packed with nutrients, mix different kinds of fruit and enjoy a unique tasting drink. Of course, you have to make sure the taste of your fruits is in harmony or else you'd end up having a rotten tasting drink. For example, mixing lemons with coconut, pineapple and avocado is just plain weird. Keep the sour-tasting lemons, pineapples and the likes with different fruits that can take some sourness and have a congruent taste.

For kids aging 2 to 14 years old, the amount of fruit needed daily is about one cup. For 14 years old and above, two cups of fruit a day is just right.

Having a healthy balanced diet is vital to keep your body healthy and to keep those diseases away. Of course, fruits can only do you much and it can't totally keep you healthy, a trip to the doctors is needed and some vaccination to your kids is really important as some diseases are contagious and no matter how healthy you are, you could still get struck by these diseases. There are lots of new strains that are causing the lives of many people so even if you're really healthy; you still need to be careful. AIDS for instance can lower down your immune system and make you susceptible to any form of viruses and you could get it through blood transfusion and sexual intercourse with an infected person. You have to keep yourself healthy but at the same time you need to stay safe as well. A healthy balanced diet should be combined with a healthy lifestyle if you want to live a long, healthy life and enjoy each day up to your prime years. You can never be too careful, just do your part of staying healthy by eating the right foods and staying away from unhealthy ones or at least keep your fatty food intake to an acceptable level.
